Right Arm (右腕, migiude) is the 583rd chapter of the Gintama series. The battle between Umibouzu and Utsuro comes to its conclusion.
Utsuro falls to the ground after Umibouzu crushes the Altana crystal together with his heart using his right arm. As he lies on the ground, Umibouzu begin to explain that by combining the two different Altana together in the body, Utsuro is no longer immortal and will die like any ordinary being. He falls on his knees shortly after due to his injuries. Staring at his hand, Umibouzu reflects upon Kouka's last moments before a nearby Abuto shouts for his attention; another Utsuro has materialized.
Disappointed that even Umibouzu can’t kill him, Utsuro proceeds to withdraw his sword stuck in the Yato's chest, slicing off his right arm in the process and resulting in Umibouzu collapsing onto the ground. Realizing the immortal has regenerated from the right arm that was ripped off, Abuto charges right at Utsuro. Fending off Abuto easily, Utsuro explains how he has pumped all his power into the right arm before it was ripped off, correctly predicting Umibouzu's moves earlier on. Although he manages to resurrect, the sudden resurrection consumed a large amount of his Altana thus he couldn't stay any longer. Before leaving, he thanks Umibouzu for allowing him to have a near death experience for the first time in centuries; he hopes to meet him again, this time in the other world.
Despite being left in a sorry state, Umibouzu told Abuto that he believes he has emerged victorious and reckons that he has done well. As Abuto is about to respond, a furious Kamui appears and disagrees with Umibouzu. He couldn’t believe that Umibouzu was beaten up and lost his right arm so easily by some opponent rather than him. Kamui demanded Umibouzu to stand up so as to battle him to which Abuto tries to dissuade him. Angered by Umibouzu’s inability to respond, Kamui charges towards him while Abuto and an injured Kagura, who had just arrived at the scene, shout in horror. However Gintoki, who came down the cliffs together with Shinpachi and Sadaharu, manages to stop him from advancing further with his bokuto.
- Utsuro: (About Umibouzu) We were up against opponents that we couldn't defeat unless we were prepared to sacrifice a life. The one difference being that the life he threw away was the only one he had.
- Umibouzu: (To Abuto) In that case... No matter what a mess I am now, this is my victory. I lost my left arm throwing away my family. But I lost my right arm protecting my family. I'd say for me that's pretty good.
