Lesson 519 is the 519th chapter of the Gintama series.
Summary[]
After sending each other's sword flying, Gintoki and Takasugi continued fighting, while the latter claimed that his crushed left eyes saw their past and their hatred, and that his opponent was burnt onto its eyelid.
In a flashback during the Joui War, Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi were captured by the Naraku. Gintoki was ordered to either execute Shouyou or let his comrades die. With Takasugi begging him not to choose the first choice, a hesitated Gintoki recalled of his promises with his teacher, which is to protect his comrades, and with his comrade, which is to take care of their teacher. Shouyou then turned to him and thanked him for keeping their promise.
Gintoki smiled weakly and chose to behead Shouyou, as he slashed the present Takasugi in a similar way.
