Summary
The Yorozuya stared at the crashed spaceship in disbelief as an army of Yato people came out of the ship, led by Abuto. Glancing at the Shogun, Abuto quickly threw his umbrella at him, but not before Gintoki dragged the Shogun out of his spot. A group of shinobis came out and fought against the Yato people, leaving the Yorozuya and the Shogun running away.
On a spaceship of the Bakufu, Soyo-hime, seemingly unscathed, was seen resting among the severely injured after the crash, with Okita being one of them. According to Rotten Maizou, Okita had altered the shelter boats to fake their deaths to the Harusame. In addition, the person whom Hattori beheaded was not the real Shogun, but a body double, and Rotten Maizou knew that by checking the body for a scar, which was not there at all. Meanwhile, the entire fleet of the Kiheitai had exploded, while Hattori kept killing the enemies on board.
As a child, the Shogun had found out, in shock, that there were many children who resembled him had to become his body double, take his place and risk their life. On an occasion, Kagemaru, a double of the Shogun was kidnapped, yet the previous Shogun, Sada Sada refused to do anything, claiming that there were more body doubles than they needed. Unbeknownst to them, a young Shogun had been overhearing their conversation and decided to save Kagemaru with Hattori. During the fight against the insurgents, the Shogun covered his double and was wounded in the chest as a result. To prevent Sada Sada from knowing about the wound, Kagemaru went on pretending to be the Shogun, while the real one recovered from the wound and was protected by Ayame and Hattori.
While fighting and being injured, Hattori contemplated on his past with the Shogun as a child, when they studied together until the latter left to be the next Shogun. It was revealed that the double he beheaded was Kagemaru, who agreed to be killed in the Shogun's place. Just as Hattori prepared to be killed, kunais were thrown at his surrounding enemies, and Ayame appeared from above.
